How to Clean and Care for a 3D-Printed Ring

To care for a 3D-printed ring, wipe it gently with a soft dry cloth after wear, keep it away from prolonged moisture and high heat, and store it separately from sharp metal jewelry. Avoid hard impact and heavy pressure. Fine layer lines or small hand-finishing traces can be normal; a crack, sharp edge, loose stone, or distorted fit is different and should be checked before the ring is worn again.

A simple care routine

  1. Remove the ring before rough activity. Put it aside before lifting, exercise, housework, or any task that can press the sculptural top against a hard surface.
  2. Wipe the surface gently. Use a clean, soft, dry cloth to remove fingerprints and light surface dust. Do not scrape around the decorative stones with a sharp tool.
  3. Let the ring stay dry. Avoid soaking it or leaving it in prolonged moisture. If it becomes damp, pat it dry and leave it at room temperature before storage.
  4. Store it by itself. A small pouch or separate section of a jewelry box helps prevent metal chains, clasps, and sharp edges from scratching the printed finish or catching a stone.
  5. Keep it away from high heat. Do not leave the ring beside a heater or in another hot environment. Treat it as a decorative fashion accessory rather than a piece made for harsh conditions.

Why FDM rings can show fine layer lines

For an UNICOLOOM ring, this means subtle layer lines, support-removal marks, or sanding traces may remain even after hand finishing. They are expected characteristics of the FDM process and do not automatically mean the ring is damaged.

Normal making marks and actual damage are not the same

A normal process mark is usually a small surface variation: fine repeated lines, a localized finishing trace, or slight variation between hand-finished pieces. It does not prevent the ring from fitting or being used as a decorative accessory.
